So, based on this:Note that the factory reset is a hard reset of the MMU firmware: it will delete the filament length calibration values. The firmware version will not be changed.I'm hesitant to perform a hard reset because it will delete the filament length calibration values. How do I re-calibrate the filament lengths?

Hi, it's not necessary to re-calibrate them anymore with MK3S MMU2S.
If you still use the old version without IR sensor, please follow this guide: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/Guide/Service+menu+-+Individual+Filament+Calibration/842

Are there situations where you would still need to do a factory reset with the MK3S+ MMU2S?

Hello. It's seldom needed at all. The factory reset is supposed to be used as last resort.
