This chapter will guide you through calibrating and preparing the printer for its first run. Starting with tensioning the belts:
⬢The left screw adjusts the upper belt.
⬢The right screw adjusts the lower belt.
⬢Double-check that the M3x30 screws in the belt tensioners were lubricated during assembly.
WARNING: Incorrect procedure may result in damage to plastic parts or seizing of screws. Before adjusting the belt tension, read the dedicated article:
The instructions are truly unclear (Pe*** stuck in ceiling fan type of unclear).
I am guessing the goal is to do the manual gantry alignment, which is only possible by tensioning the belts somewhat, because mine were barely tensioned at this point (I kept them as far out as possible during construction). I tensioned them a little and then did the manual alignment by making small turns on the tensioner until the gantry was flush on the stops. BE CAREFUL there are many warnings on wrecking your pullies or belts or both if tightening is not done properly. I suggest reading the linked article, watch the included youtube and some other ones related to it to first understand the goals.
Especially since we have all the warnings about breaking things if done incorrectly this section needs an update. At the very least the goal needs to be specified and the proper section linked.
since actual tension tuning will be done later after powering on, I just slightly tightened each screw so that the timing belts wouldn't jump and skip. no need to tension a lot.
Haha I thougth the app's measurements was all over the place, but then I discovered I was connected to my Bluetooth headphones in the other room. All good after disconnecting my headphones which had the microphone I accidentally used before.
The app was next to useless for this step. each strum showed a completely different number. I just got it as close as I reasonably could, and will try the built-in method on the machine once its powered up.
I opened https://belt.connect.prusa3d.com/ on my phone and used it to tune the belts to 92 and 98 hz per instructions. App seems to have trouble between half and double frequencies (displaying 59hz and 120hz interchangeably) so be careful not to over tighten. If you have tuned a guitar before you should not have any trouble...
