Preparing the printer
Preparing the printer
Plug the external PSU into the printer and electricity. Ensure the power switch is ON. Press the button on the front to turn the printer on.
See the correct orientation of the connector! The arrow on the flat part of the connector must be facing the power switch. Do not attempt to plug the connector in a different orientation. You can damage the electronics.
There is a sliding lock on the connector. For removal, grab the larger part of the connector and pull it outwards. Don't pull the cable, it won't be able to disconnect that way.
Downloading the firmware
Downloading the firmware
The upgraded SL1S SPEED printer won't work with the older SL1 firmware (1.5.0 and below)! You need to upgrade the firmware to the latest one 1.6.6 or newer.
There are two ways to upgrade the printer’s firmware:
OTA firmware upgrade - (Over The Air) firmware packages are delivered via ethernet or Wi-Fi network. For using this method, please go to OTA firmware upgrading
USB firmware upgrade - firmware packages can be downloaded from the official website. For using this method, please go to USB firmware upgrading

This method requires a network connection. Please, make sure that the printer is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Starting with firmware 1.3.0, the printer performs automated checks for newer firmware files online and displays an on-screen message when a new update is found. Firmware 1.4.0 enables a manual firmware check via an on-screen button.
On the touch screen navigate to: Home -> Settings -> Firmware -> Download Now. You will see the new Update is available. Click on it.
On the screen with the new firmware version info and QR code scroll down and click on "Install".
Wait until the whole process is completed. Upgrading the firmware can take a few minutes, depending on the speed of your internet connection.
The printer restarts itself after the installation is complete.

Removing old SL1 projects
Removing old SL1 projects
After upgrading the printer, some of your projects will not be compatible with SL1S and the printer needs to remove them. You can download them by entering the address from the display into a web browser on your computer.
In order to download your projects, your computer must be connected to the same network as the printer.
Everything downloaded? Click on "Yes". If you click No, the printer will not allow you to continue the upgrade.
Erasing old settings
Erasing old settings
The printer detects upgraded components and needs to erase all configuration settings (e.g. UV calibration data, platform calibration data) to complete the upgrade procedure. If you agree to delete them, click "Yes" to continue.
After completing the calibration in the next chapter, the printer will create new configuration settings.
