Anyone have an idea on how to remove support material from the curved holes which run through the X-Carriage component? These are the ones through which you're supposed to be able to pass a zip tie through in order to secure the bearings. Unfortunately, I ahve yet to find something sharp and strong enough with the correct curvature to cut through the support material in those holes. Any ideas would be super helpful.
A tool that works very well for me is called a "deburring tool". It's kind of a sharpened hook. Google it, or see this link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Deburring-Tool-80-531-111/304583908 It is used similarly to a scalpel or X-acto knife, but without the needlessly sharp point.
The link has expired. We use curettes for reverse-cutting (pulling on them to cut). They same stuff dentists use. They are available through internet medical suppliers inexpensively. Standard, non-steriles are perfect for the job. And they are sharp! Geometries Langer 3-4, 5-6 or Gracey.
I agree with the other commenters - please include these points in the normal instructions or at least mention them in the introduction. I found these tips in the instruction comments after I finished assembling the E-axis and had to redo everything to check and actually fix the fs-lever (step 12).
These individual steps should be mentioned in their respective assembly steps. Step 8 - the X-Axis in particular has A LOT of people having trouble with this during the build. I myself had trouble and had to read the comments. I found this section of the website only after I had already completed the Extruder Assembly.
