The Original Prusa XL is equipped with a loadcell, to detect that the nozzle is close enough to the steel sheet for printing, and to avoid damage that would be caused by the nozzle digging into the steel sheet.
Thanks to this component, incorporated in the hotend heatsink, the first layer calibration is fully automatic: the first layer is calibrated automatically during the mesh bed leveling: this procedure is automatically run before each print, on the surface portion where the print will be placed; it can be run at any time, on the full print surface, in LCD Menu - Calibration - Diagnostics - Mesh Bed Leveling.
This also means that there is no setting for steel sheet profiles: on the Original Prusa XL, it is possible to change the steel sheet type, without setting the first layer, as it will be done automatically.
During the selftest, the loadcell will be tested: the printer will show the instructions for testing it.
Alternatively, the loadcell testing can be initiated in LCD Menu - Calibration - Diagnostics - Loadcell Test.
During the test, see if the numbers shown on the screen will change. In case the number does not change when you tap the nozzle, please contact our customer support
