What I find ridiculous, I bought the mmu3, and have to buy the oring on Amazon, as well as a few screws(the 22mm) and the new 3x1 magnet for the sensor.
I print TPU often. After reading this section I am worried that maybe switching back to a Prusa with MMU3 might not have been a good idea. I hope I don't end up regretting this... Really Prusa, why can't we have the ability to switch between MMU3 and not MMU3 with less effort? I don't reacall having any problems with the MK3 I had... I hope that Prusa will fix this.
Will I need to take additional steps with the Nextruder to upgrade to the MK4S ? I ask because I'd like to go in just once, and if I will need to make further modifications to the Nextruder, I may wait on the upgrade of the MMU3.

I'm appalled that the Nextstruder should need modified in any way to accomodate the MMU3! Were it designed to accept the feed tube like the MK3S/MMU3 (threaded fillament feed hole) it should work every bit as well and the extensive mods to the Nextruder would not be needed.
Hello. It would be nice if the stock nextruder were sufficient, but in its current state, it is either automatic filament loading or proper MMU functionality. However, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the nextruder, we are all ears. :-)
That's a non-technical answer! What's different and why? All the requisit functionality seems to be in place on the original Extruder except for the interface for the fillament tube from the MU3. Make the printer nextruders MMU compatible. It can't be that hard or costly. BTW I'm a very experienced mechanical engineer with 40+ years experience In support of the USAF ICBM Program.
Good for you! :-) But if you need an explanation despite your experience, the MMU modification to the extruder changes the FS behavior, making it register idler movement instead of inserted filament. In that case, the nextruder identifies filament only after it is in the gearbox, ensuring that it is inserted all the way through. But as I said, if you have any improvements, let us know.
New hobbist here. Have had my MK4 for a week and when I got to the part of "Make sure the extruder on your printer is in the middle of both the X and Z axes." I was lost for a few hours. Might want to clear up how this is accomplished. I bought my printer factory assembled, if that matters.
