Similar experience, I completely removed the idler screw but then released the other screws as described so creating the gap in photo 1 of step 5, I could then see a very small piece of filament resting in the top of the ptfe tube which was preventing filament from loading, managed to remove it with a small pair of tweezers.
To be honest, careful use of a vacuum may also have got it out had i known in advance
