What happened?

This warning appears when the printer is unable to complete the bed leveling (mesh bed probing) process. The printer shows the message "Bed leveling failed. Try again?".

This may happen due to loadcell or PINDA probe detection issues, mechanical interference, a dirty nozzle, or incorrect assembly. It prevents the print from starting, as proper bed leveling is critical for first-layer adhesion and successful prints.

Error name: Probing failed

Error code: #31833 (CORE One) #35833 (CORE One L) #17833 (XL) #26833 (MK4S) #13833 (MK4) #27833 (MK3.9S) #21833 (MK3.9) #28833 (MK3.5S) #23833 (MK3.5) #12833 (MINI)

How to fix it?

  • Check that the nozzle and bed are clean, and remove any filament residue that may interfere with probing.
  • Ensure the steel sheet is properly seated and flat on the bed surface.
  • Verify that the nozzle is not obstructed or loose.
  • If you're using custom start G-code, ensure it doesn't override or interfere with the firmware’s bed probing sequence.

If the issue continues:

  • Run all the tests from LCD Menu -> Control -> Calibrations & tests, to check all the probe and axes functions.
  • If your printer is equipped with a loadcell, inspect the loadcell wiring and mounting for damage, looseness, or misalignment. More info in the dedicated Loadcell troubleshooting article
  • If your printer is equipped with a SuperPINDA probe, troubleshooting using the dedicated articles:

If probing still fails after these steps, do not hesitate to contact our Support for assistance.

on my MK4S the new feature for steel sheet detection results into FALSE NEGATIVE DETECTION, if no steel sheet is placed. So if no steel sheet is placed, the printer also starts to print.

Instead, the detection for steel sheet only shows a failure if the steel sheet is not 110% placed accurately. That means, if the steel sheet is 0.5mm more to the right side, then the error is triggered

Once changed to "special prusa nylon" sheet it did not level any more. Process gets stuck always in the very middle of the sheet. Tighten the nozzle screws is not a good recommendation from above. The probe will get problems at nozzle cleaning process. All selftests passed and changing back to structured Metal sheet will resolve issue. So SOMETHING must be not OK with this new nylon sheet.
Please advise
