What happened?

If a Prusa Printer with a CoreXY detects a crash, the printer will attempt to find a reference point through a procedure called precise homing. If the right and left sides are not aligned, the precise homing will fail, and this error will be shown.

Error name: Precise Refinement Failed

Error code: #17102 (XL) #31102 (CORE One)

How to fix it?

Check the belt tension (Adjusting belt tension (CORE One) or Adjusting belt tension (XL)) and adjust it if needed. Ensure that the printer's right and left sides are perfectly aligned.

After correctly adjusting the belts, the two plastic parts on the sides of the rail should reach the front of the axis together.

hmm ok. it would be really useful if the crash report could provide further details of the issue.
Since I already went thru belt tuning procedure and the gantry was out of whack and I needed to adjust it.

Get rid of the play, adjust the tension, the play comes back, adjust the play, get rid of the play, adjust the tension, the play comes back, adjust the play, get rid of the play, adjust the tension, the play comes back, adjust the play, get rid of the play, adjust the tension, the play comes back, adj...

Hang on a minute - this is insane.

Is there an actual fix for this or is there an inherent design fault somewhere? If I was the only one experiencing this, I could believe it was me but it seems not...

Support is non-existent.

I’m finding something similar. I think perhsps at first juncture the assembly guide needs some more work in getting the corexy frame square to begin with and some better guidance concerning belt tensioners. my left tensioner is very tight to adjust, my right is very easy.

Hallo an alle
Bei meinen core one das gleiche Problem mit der y Kalibrierung.
Gibt es irgendwelche Antworten darauf?
Bin nach einer Woche umstellen langsam am verzweifeln.

Received Fully Assembled Core One and am faced with this issue. On initial self-test the head bashed around the right front area for a minute and finally settled. On performing an 'Auto-Home' after trying out the x, y and z movements (finding my way around the controls) it performed the same unnerving bashing around the front right corner then threw this error and reset itself. I will follow the 'belt-check' suggestion and follow up.

Okay. Fixed it. Hints; I followed the instructions on adjusting belt tension. I found a slight play on one side, fixed it, then got the harmonics right. Used the iPhone app thing. Tested Auto-home and it failed by bashing it's head against the stops until I reset it. Rechecked the alignment. It was ever so slightly off. Fixed it. Checked the harmonics. Fixed it again. Auto-home - worked. All good.
TLDR; So, you may need to check and re-check. The phone harmonic checker thing works fine but you have to properly strum the belts and hold the microphone end of the phone very close to the belt.

What frequency did you get on the belts? Were they both the same? Did you start from a fully loose position on the alignment? Genuinely curious as I've been at this for thick end of a day with no joy, just stuck in an infuriation loop...
