What happened?

The printer shows the message "Extruder motor is not spinning on tool #". In place of #, the number of the Dwarf board is shown.

This problem occurs due to increased resistance between the Dwarf and the cable connector, caused by the cable and connector being held too firmly in position.

Error name: Extruder error

Error code: #17536

How to fix it?

Update firmware

Make sure that you have firmware 6.2.0 or newer.

Remove the 'dwarf-cover-connector'

Remove the dwarf-cover connector, as it might hold the cable and connector too firmly. Fully loosen the bolt holding the part and remove the bolt. Repeat the print without the cover. If the issue is solved, replace the cover: How to replace the main cable connector cover (XL).

I have to agree. They had me replace the entire cable and yeah, a board on print head and behold guess what the extruder fails again.Do to spinning i'm out about 4 to 6 rolls of filament and still haven't got the problem fixed. Don't worry, warranty is almost gone. All right, I'll be paying for the rest of it oh boy thanks Prusa, and you're an orange screen of death, which you could fix, which would allow us to continue our prints, but no

I think this is firmware related, everything worked fine until the firmware update. its only tool 1 for no apparent reasons i losen i tighten it still happens .

I got this error because the "dwarf-cover-connector" was too loose - not too firm. The following steps resolved the issue (printer switched off):

1. Disconnect the toolhead cable.
2. Open the dwarf-cover-connector by releasing the bolt (as explained in this article).
3. Reposition the white connector in the dwarf-cover-connector housing.
4. Fasten the bolt.
5. Connect the cable to the toolhead.

I had exactly the same problem, even on 6.20 and greater firmware. Happened most frequently on Tool 1 (even if I swapped in from a different Tool) and once on Tool 5 on the 4th day of a 5 day print. I found that you couldn't resume the print after this failure to be quite infuriating.

FWIW, I think applying firmware to fix this problem is a bit of a stretch despite the stated "tolerances" justification.

In my case, installing these fixed it: https://www.printables.com/model/1124941-secure-xl-nextruder-cable-connector-solution

Just updated to 6.2.4. On extruder 1 the print fails at exactly the same place (end of first layer) a on 3 different attempts. I re sliced the file between attempt 2 and 3. The first 2 attempts had 3 objects. The 3rd attempt had only 2 objects. They all failed exactly at the end of the first layer. I find it hard to believe that this is a cable issue.

Same file works fine on extruder 2.
